Newington Cadets at Somerset
|
Left, right, left, right……..the warming sun cut through the crisp morning as the cadets practiced their formations.
Somerset was dotted with khaki and camouflage as Newington College Cadets ran their annual Promotions Course here this June.
50 keen senior cadets undertook many activities including a solo think-out, marching drills and an expedition in the hope of securing a position as a CUO or Seargent for the upcoming year.

Newington College has been running their cadet camps at Somerset for almost 30 years with the highlight of the cadet calendar seeing 300 cadets arrive at Somerset for 6 days.
The boys spend these 6 days completing many fun-filled activities including canoeing, high ropes, expeditions, orienteering and navigation, natural rockclimbing and a strategic camouflage sequence. Our qualified Group Leaders and our Support Services Team assist the cadets as they pass through these checkpoints.

The cadets are sustained with a variety of different meal options as they complete their program. Fresh food delivered to a campsite and prepared by each platoon, 24hr individual self-sufficient meal and snack packs carried and prepared by the cadets at our remote sites, and a farewell lunch in our dining hall as the cadets roll out.
Good luck with your promotions and we look forward to seeing you when next you visit Somerset!
