All about Somerset
facitities and logistics
Integral to the success of our Outdoor Education Programmes, is obviously our infrastructure and support. Somerset has developed an extensive range of services, and is able to extend these in a manner appropriate to each programme.

Administration – Somerset maintains a fully staffed office in Waitara on the North Shore of Sydney, to ensure that the needs of user groups can always be attended, even during the busiest week at camp. Our administrative support begins many months before camp, and intensifies in the busy lead up to programmes.

Food Services – Somerset prides itself of the quality, quantity and freshness of the food provided for programmes. Furthermore, we believe in the value of students being involved in the preparation and cooking of meals at camp as an important part of their camp experience.

Logistical Support – Somerset maintains an enormous infrastructure of support at our Base Camp, including over 10 vehicles, to ensure that the many and various needs of groups can be catered for. In some cases, support is kept to a minimum to highlight the self reliant journey, and in other cases it is maximised to ensure all students can participate in the programme.

Communications – Somerset maintains it's own licensed UHF Radio repeater system across the programme area to ensure regular communications for all groups, and emergency contact if required. Base Camp communications are monitored 24 hours, with designated coordinators and duty drivers each night.

Coordination – Each Somerset programme is personally attended by a Programme Coordinator, ensuring that, not only is the camp run smoothly and safely, but that the outcomes and objectives of the school are always met.
