Somerset Outdoor Learning Centre has been offering outdoor experiences to school students and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants since 1980. We specialise in providing outdoor experiences for schools and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants.

Winter turns to Spring at Somerset.Spring brings with it warm days and cool nights, which are enjoyed by the local birdlife who have come out in force. The bush tracks are crowded with native wildflowers. It’s great to see the river opening up and the many smiling faces of students as the days get longer and hints of summer are around the corner…

This Week at Somerset .......

The new season has begun and Somerset are welcoming their first groups through with pleasure and excitement. After a few weeks of rest and recuperation; upgrading some of our activities and an intense week of staff training and inductions, we are ready to hit the ground running! The mornings are still crisp and invigorating, and the campfires mesmerising.

At Camp, we have a large Duke of Edinburgh group in, completing their Bronze Test Expedition. This Adventurous Journey is aimed to encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery. Students are required to work as part of a small team, plan, train and undertake a journey with a clearly defined purpose in an unfamiliar environment. This journey requires determination, perseverance and cooperation to be completed. Good luck to all participants for the next few days!
